Maa Katyayini is the alankara done on the sixth day of Navaratri. According to the puranas she helped while killing Mahishasura. There are very lesser things known about Maa Katyayini. She is described in both Skanda Purana and in Markandeya Purana. She is also known as Adi Parashakti in Amaramoksha. According to vamana purana she is created after the anger that is originated while fighting with Mahishasura. In some puranas it is mentioned that, first for the fear of god and goddess while killing Mahishasura sage Katyaya worshipped mother durga and his daughter became Katyayini. But there is one more version that as Katyayini was the first sage to worship the sixth for of Durga so she got that name Katyayini. Ma Katyayini is one of the most powerful forms of Navadurga it is believed that there are many benefits by worshipping her especially to women. Some of the benefits are

1. Girls who are unmarried will be married after worshipping her .it is believed that worshipping her will help in finding perfect life partner and will also there will be lot f harmony in life and family.

To kill Mahishasura the demon all gods gifted her different weapons. Shiva gave her trident; Vishnu gave her sudharshsana chakra and many more devatas many more instruments. It is also believed that she ca full fill the wish of her devotes

She rules ajna chakra in our body which is located between eye brows because of its location is also called third eye. This chakra is in violet color. In Hindu tradition it is believed that this chakra is directly connected to Brahman.

While the two physical eyes see the physical world the eye which we can’t see the third eye will see future the world which we have ever seen. The persons whose third eye is activated will know the future and remember it is not that easy to open this chakra because this requires lots of practice and for everyone this eye cannot be opened these days it is observed that many people are cheating people by telling that they can predict future. But never ever believe them because predicting future can be happened to the person whose third eye is opened. It takes years to open this chakra and I strongly believe that this chakra is not opened for all the people and only the people who are god chosen will be able to open their third eye

For the people whose third eye is opened will have the ability to connect with this world and also can receive messages from past and future. This chakra is also associated with naadis. This chakra is closely connected to Manipura chakra and sahasra chakra. When this chakra is not activated the person under goes emotional irregularities which means he will not have self control. We see some people who are really smart and can have lots of knowledge but will be unable to produce the results. Any guesses why this happens because his third eye is not opened and he will face many troubles. For the person whose third eye is activated he has capability of smiling even in difficult situations. 

This chakra regulates the pituitary gland endocrine gland to some extent. The right eye and ear are energized by ajna chakra.
